LES BALLETS RUSSES

VIDEO CYCLE

Les Ballets Russes (Russian Ballets) is a video program combining Found-footage and crazed french text.

A demented Rubik's cube where archive films and the verbial big churn turn into a  lyrical toy chest of the failed Creation, left there babbling by a stupid and insane god.

A spectacular collaboration on the hilarious borders of anguish between Orsten Groom and Élodie Tamayo.

The Ballets Russes taught us

that in History as in Literature,

almost nothing happens.

A corpse runs down a river in a wartime Europa. A vampire with a lost mouth that pulls a dead tongue and sows images as clues.

Some livings prowl around, patterns proliferate and beasts get involved.

Entirely handcrafted by Orsten Groom (camera, music, editing and lead actor), BOBOK dips between the macabre cartoon, the abstract thriller and the historical haunting.

Based on a true story.

"Wow , that wading cadaver with skewered fish and dangling tongue, all aflame, make for one of the most startling shots in all of film. Orsten Groom's ethos is incredible! Twisted, a little mean, often ugly, always gorgeous! "

After Mikhail Bulgakov

Some simpleton worker goes to the "Authorities" in order to get a "free ticket" that he thought he could benefit from reading a gazette.

He has just put his finger on a carnival Sabbath of shabby eroticism,

with debilitating scents of Politburo.
